March 2027 has seven auspicious Hindu marriage dates by the Drik Panchang calendar for New Delhi: 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 14 March. Every one falls in the first half of the month. From 15 March the calendar enters Kharmas, and the next date is 18 April. Holi falls in that gap, on 22 March. Sunday 14 March is the only weekend date. Your family priest decides the final date and time.

The mid-March cut-off
Kharmas comes twice a year. The first, in December and January, is better known; the second begins when the sun enters Pisces, Meena, in mid-March, and ends when it enters Aries in mid-April. Weddings pause through it in most North Indian families. In 2027 the last date before the pause is 14 March, with a window from 5:10 pm that evening to 6:31 am on 15 March, and the next date is 18 April. Our guide to Kharmas and the no-wedding periods explains both pauses.
The practical result is that March 2027 is really a two-week wedding month. Families who want a spring wedding before the summer must fit it into 1 to 14 March, or wait for the second half of April.
Reading the March windows
- 1 and 2 March run from Monday night to Tuesday afternoon under Mula.
- 3 and 4 March run from the early hours of Wednesday to the early hours of Friday under Uttara Ashadha, a long window that suits a Thursday ceremony at almost any hour.
- 9 and 10 March run from Tuesday morning to the early hours of Thursday under Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati.
- Sunday 14 March is the only weekend date, from the evening into Monday morning, under Rohini. Expect it to be heavily booked as the last weekend before the pause.
Festivals around the March dates
Maha Shivaratri falls on Saturday 6 March 2027. It is not one of the listed wedding dates, but in some regions it is regarded as auspicious for weddings, and in others families keep it as a day of fasting and worship; practice varies widely. Holi falls on 22 March 2027, with Holika Dahan the night before, during the Kharmas gap. Eid ul-Fitr, at the end of Ramadan, is expected around 10 March 2027, depending on the moon, which matters for families with Muslim guests: the early-March dates fall in the last days of the fast.
Weather and where to marry in early March
Early March is still pleasant across North India, with warm days and cool evenings, and it is one of the last comfortable windows for outdoor weddings in Rajasthan and Gujarat before the heat. The south is getting warm and humid, especially on the coasts, so shaded and evening events work best there. Hill stations begin to open for the season later in March. Our best wedding season guide compares the months.
Exams and the end of the financial year
Two practical calendars run alongside the panchang in March. School board examinations usually continue through March, which affects families with children in classes 10 and 12. And 31 March is the end of the Indian financial year, a busy time for families in business and for many working guests. Neither is a reason to avoid a March wedding, but both are reasons to ask the extended family before fixing a date.
Guests and rooms in early March
Early March is still busy for tourism in Rajasthan and Goa, and the end of the wedding season before the pause brings a final rush on wedding weekends, so rooms near popular venues go quickly for 14 March in particular. Block rooms early and include the night before for guests attending an evening ceremony that runs into the next morning. Our outstation guest planning guide covers room blocks.
Night ceremonies in early March
Several March windows run through the night: 1 into 2, 3 into 5, 9 into 11 and 14 into 15 March. Early March nights are mild in most of India, which makes a night ceremony comfortable for guests without the heaters a December night needs. Serve dinner before the ceremony, keep the elders comfortable, and arrange transport for guests who leave after dinner, so that only the family stays for the pheras in the small hours.
Demand and pricing
With only seven dates, packed into two weeks and ending in a month-long pause, early March is busy. Prices are slightly below February’s peak, but the final weekend before the pause, 14 March, is likely to be priced as a peak date. The weekday windows of 3 to 4 and 9 to 10 March are the best value.
A countdown for an early-March 2027 wedding

What March weather means for the day
Early March days in Delhi and Jaipur are warm but comfortable, and evenings are mild, so a mehendi or haldi outdoors in the afternoon and a ceremony on a lawn in the evening both work. By the second week, daytime heat rises in Central India and the Deccan, and in Hyderabad, Pune and Bengaluru the afternoons can already be hot. Shade, fans and an evening schedule make the difference. On the coasts, humidity is the bigger issue than heat, so indoor air-conditioned venues are the safer choice for long events.
If you miss the first half of March
The next window opens on 18 April 2027 and runs to the end of April, followed by a large number of dates in May and June. Couples who prefer cooler weather should look back to February; couples who can accept warmer weather, or who are marrying in the hills, will find more choice in late April and May. Our April 2027 marriage dates page lists the next options.
A short-season plan
Because the March window is only two weeks long, a sensible plan for families who have not yet booked is to choose the date by the venue rather than the venue by the date. List the venues you like, ask which of the seven dates each still has free, and let the pandit confirm the best of those for the couple. That reverses the usual order, but in a two-week window it saves weeks of back and forth.
Regional calendars differ
South Indian, Bengali and other regional calendars set their own dates and their own pauses, and the family priest decides. Our guide to shubh muhurat and the panchangam explains how a muhurat is calculated.
