The catchment is fed by Agra airport (90 minutes away), Delhi (3.5 hours by road), and the Yamuna Expressway which keeps NCR guest inflows tight.

The Vrindavan temple permission map, what the SERP misses

This is the section every other Vrindavan wedding planner page glosses over. Vrindavan’s most famous temples do not all conduct weddings, and treating them as interchangeable causes the brief to collapse in the final month. The working map for premium weddings:

• Banke Bihari Mandir, no weddings permitted. The temple does not host marriage ceremonies in the sanctum and the surrounding crowd density makes a private ceremony unworkable. Couples can take darshan as part of the wedding-day ritual sequence, but the Pheras do not happen here.
• Prem Mandir (Jagadguru Kripaluji Yog Trust), weddings permitted with formal advance permission from the trust office. The temple complex has set-piece areas suited to a Hindu wedding ceremony, with priest-side coordination handled through the trust.
• ISKCON Vrindavan (Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir), conditional weddings with clearance from temple authorities. The format runs as a Vaishnav ceremony, the priest-side and the temple-calendar slots are coordinated through the temple office, and the wedding party is briefed on temple protocol (dress, footwear, photography, sound) in advance.
• Krishna Janmabhoomi Mandir, Mathura, no weddings permitted at the sanctum. The site is for darshan only.
• Sri Sri Radha Madanmohan Mandir and other ISKCON-affiliated heritage temples, weddings permitted in select cases with priestly clearance and an advance application. The smaller heritage temples in the broader Vrindavan parikrama allow refined, intimate Vaishnav ceremonies of 50-150 guests where the permission is granted.

Important caveat. Temple policies change. The map above reflects working practice at the time of writing, but confirm current wedding permission with the temple administration at the time of booking before finalising your venue and date.

Layered on top of the temple map is the Ekadashi calendar. The eleventh tithi of each lunar fortnight is generally considered a no-wedding day in the Vaishnav calendar, and Vrindavan-specific festivals (Janmashtami, Radhashtami, Kartik Purnima, the Govardhan parikrama period) further constrain the date sheet. We pull the Ekadashi list and the festival calendar against the family’s preferred date window in month minus 12, and we apply for temple permissions only after the date is panchang-and-Ekadashi cleared. Yamuna-side garden venues for the reception (not the ceremony) carry their own permit conversation with the local authority, which we manage end-to-end.

• Prem Mandir (Kripaluji Yog Trust), the ceremony venue for Vaishnav formats where the trust grants permission. Reception is held at a Mathura or Agra hotel later in the day or on a subsequent day.
• ISKCON Vrindavan (Krishna Balaram Mandir) and the MVT Resort (Krishna Balaram Mandir Guesthouse complex), the ISKCON-affiliated guest house with garden lawn used for the wedding-party stay and select adjacent functions, ceremony at the temple where cleared.
• Banke Bihari area heritage hotels and guesthouses, used for the wedding-party stay and the haldi-mehndi nights, not the ceremony itself.
• Yamuna-side garden venues on the parikrama-marg side, used for receptions or daytime functions where the local authority grants the permit, named properties shortlisted on request.
• Mathura reception circuit, Radisson Mathura and Hotel The Bridge, full-service hotels with ballroom and lawn 45 minutes from the Vrindavan temple core, comfortable for 250-500 guest evening receptions.
• Agra Taj-side reception circuit, ITC Mughal, Taj Hotel and Convention Centre, Jaypee Palace, used where the family wants a Vrindavan ceremony and a metro-standard reception with a Taj backdrop, 60-90 minutes from the temple core.

The dominant format is the Vaishnav Hindu wedding with a Krishna-centred ritual sequence. The priest is typically a Vaishnav acharya or, at ISKCON, a temple-side officiant. The mandap is set with Krishna iconography, the kirtan replaces or augments the standard band-baaja, and the menu is strictly satvik (no onion, no garlic, no non-vegetarian) at temple-conducted ceremonies.
