About Velvet Knot · Est. 2021
Six specialists. One standard of execution. Hyderabad-headquartered, operating across India.
Why We Exist
Velvet Knot began in 2021, after a single wedding made the case. A 400-guest celebration in Udaipur, four traditions blended into one ceremony, three vendors who quietly did not know what they were doing, and a family that had spent eighteen months planning. The wedding happened. The compromises that got it there were the problem.
The standard Indian wedding-planning model produces this outcome reliably. Planners take vendor commissions, so vendor selection is rarely on merit. Couples spend their engagement years chasing decorators and caterers. Families end up shouldering operational chaos at the precise moment they want to be present for their child.
We started Velvet Knot to build something different. A flat professional fee, transparent vendor selection, written contingency plans, and a single team that owns the wedding from first call to last guest. The work happens before the wedding, not during it.
The Team
Every Velvet Knot wedding is staffed by the team below. We list them by function rather than by name, so your assessment stays on capability, not on identity.
12+ years in luxury event planning
Holds the wedding from first call to last guest. Sets strategy, owns the family relationship, and is responsible for every decision the couple does not need to be in.
9+ years in vendor & financial management
Reads every vendor contract, runs every budget, and writes the contingency plan no one hopes to use. The reason flat-fee pricing actually works without surprises.
11+ years across interiors and event design
Translates a couple's vague idea (“not too over-the-top”) into a documented design language that vendors can actually build to. Owns aesthetic coherence across all events.
14+ years across Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Christian, Bengali & interfaith ceremonies
Knows the difference between what is traditional and what is a vendor shortcut. Briefs every team on the rituals that actually matter to your family, and protects the timeline around them.
8+ years in destination & multi-day wedding execution
Lives at the venue from setup to teardown. Runs the on-ground team of 6-15 professionals. The reason couples and families do not hear about problems on the wedding day.
10+ years in brand strategy & digital growth
The first person to read your message; the first person to decide if we are a fit. Owns the funnel, from search ranking to first conversation, and qualifies inquiries so the team only takes calls with couples we are right for.
Built over the past 5 years across 50+ cities
Photographers, decorators, caterers, choreographers, makeup artists, sound engineers, priests, vetted personally and re-vetted after every wedding. We do not work with vendors we have not seen execute.
Names available on request, in writing, after our first consultation. We prefer to be evaluated on what we can do for your wedding before identity enters the equation.
How We Operate
One Principal Planner per wedding. No handoffs to junior staff. The person who pitches you is the person who shows up at your wedding.
Every wedding starts with a documented brief on your community's specific customs, not just the headline rituals, but the smaller traditions families remember being honoured.
Written proposals. Itemised budgets. Vendor contracts reviewed in writing. You see line-by-line what you are paying for before signing anything.
Our fee is fixed and transparent. We never take vendor commissions, never use percentage-of-budget pricing. When we recommend a vendor, it is on merit.
Backup vendors on standby. Weather alternatives at outdoor venues. Generator coverage at remote sites. Every potential failure has a documented response before the wedding week begins.
We stay involved after the wedding for vendor settlements, guest gifting follow-ups, and venue handover. The engagement does not end on bidaai morning.
