How much does a wedding planner cost in India?
Wedding planner costs in India range from ₹2-3 lakh for basic coordination to ₹50 lakh+ for full luxury destination weddings. Velvet Knot’s packages start at ₹5 lakh and are designed for weddings with a total event budget of ₹50 lakh and above. What if my wedding is below your typical scale?
We still take a free 30-minute consultation. If your wedding is below the scale our packages are built for, we will say so honestly and connect you with a planner from our trusted partner network whose pricing structure is purpose-built for your budget. No upsell, no obligation, we would rather see your wedding well-planned by the right team than over-served by the wrong one.
Do you charge a flat fee or a percentage of my budget?
Flat fee, always. We do not work on a percentage-of-budget model because it incentivises overspending. We also do not take vendor commissions, so when we recommend a vendor, it is purely on merit.
Is the consultation really free?
Yes. The first consultation is always free, with no obligation. We use it to understand your vision, timeline, and budget, and to give you an honest assessment of what is achievable, including whether we are the right team for your wedding.
Timeline & Booking
How far in advance should I book a wedding planner?
For destination and luxury weddings, we recommend booking 8-12 months in advance. For city-based weddings, 4-6 months is usually sufficient. During peak wedding season (November-February), early booking is essential as venues fill up fast.
Can you plan a wedding in 3 months or less?
Yes, we have done weddings on shorter timelines. The constraint becomes venue availability, premium venues book out 6-12 months in advance during peak season. With flexibility on date and venue, a 3-month timeline is workable.

Do you handle interfaith and inter-community weddings?
Yes. Our cultural consultant specialises in multi-tradition weddings. We have planned Hindu-Muslim, Hindu-Christian, and inter-regional ceremonies (e.g., Punjabi-Telugu) where both families’ traditions are fully represented.
NRI & Remote Planning
Can Velvet Knot help with weddings planned from abroad?
Yes, we specialise in NRI wedding planning. We handle all on-ground coordination, virtual venue tours, vendor management, family coordination, and international guest logistics, so you can plan your Indian wedding from anywhere in the world. Most NRI couples need only one or two trips to India before the wedding itself.
Do you take calls in US/UK time zones?
Yes. Our NRI specialist schedules calls in evening UK time / evening US time. Most NRI couples are on a weekly 30-45 minute video call cadence.
Vendors & Logistics
Do I have to use your recommended vendors?
No. If you have an existing photographer, caterer, or decorator you want to work with, we will integrate them into the plan. Our vendor network is a starting point, not a requirement.
How many people from your team will be on site on the wedding day?
6-15 professionals, depending on scale. A 200-guest single-day wedding might need 6-8 people. A 500-guest three-day wedding will typically have 12-15 on the ground.
What happens if a vendor fails on the day?
Every Velvet Knot wedding has a documented contingency plan with backup vendors on standby. We pre-arrange weather alternatives for outdoor events and generator coverage for power-sensitive venues. The goal is not to hope nothing goes wrong, it is to have a plan when it does.

How early should we start planning?
For a full-scale Indian wedding, 9 to 14 months is ideal. For an intimate wedding under 100 guests, 4 to 6 months is workable. Peak season (November to February) requires earlier booking because top venues and vendors lock out quickly.
Do you handle destination weddings outside Hyderabad?
Yes. We plan weddings across India including Udaipur, Jaipur, Goa, Kerala, and Mumbai. Destination weddings come with additional logistics (vendor travel, guest accommodation blocks, permit handling) which we manage end to end.
Can NRI couples plan a wedding with you remotely?
Yes. We work with NRI clients regularly. Video walkthroughs, time-zone-flexible calls, and an on-ground team make remote planning workable. Most NRI clients travel to India 2 to 3 times during the planning cycle for key milestones.
What’s the difference between full-service planning and day-of coordination?
Full-service planning covers everything from venue selection through post-wedding wrap-up, usually 9 to 14 months of work. Day-of coordination is a 2 to 4 week engagement starting in the final month, focused on run-of-show, vendor coordination, and on-day execution. Fees and scope differ significantly.
Do you charge any hidden fees or vendor commissions?
No. We work on a flat-fee model with full scope transparency. Any vendor relationships we recommend are disclosed up front, and we don’t accept commissions that influence vendor selection.
How many weddings do you take on at one time?
We cap concurrent active planning engagements to ensure every wedding gets senior attention. Specifics depend on the planning stage each wedding is in. Ask during your consultation for current capacity.
