Wedding planner costs in India vary widely depending on engagement scope, wedding scale, and the planner’s pricing model. This guide explains the typical ranges in the market and where Velvet Knot fits within them.
Wedding Planner Cost Ranges in India
Across the Indian market, professional wedding planning typically falls into these tiers:
- Basic coordination, ₹2-3 lakh for day-of execution and limited vendor coordination, typically for weddings under ₹15-20 lakh total budget

- Premium full planning, ₹6-15 lakh for end-to-end management of weddings with budgets between ₹40 lakh and ₹1 crore

If Your Wedding Is Below Our Scale
If your total wedding budget is below ₹50 lakh, the value we add is harder to justify against the planning fee. We will still take a free 30-minute consultation, and if we are not the right fit, we will introduce you to a planner from our trusted partner network whose pricing structure is purpose-built for your scale. We would rather your wedding be well-planned by the right team than over-served by the wrong one.
Velvet Knot prices wedding planning as a flat professional fee, separate from your wedding budget: ₹5 lakh for Bespoke partial planning, ₹8 lakh for Signature full planning, and ₹25 lakh for Luxury heritage and destination weddings. No percentage cuts, no vendor commissions.
How Our Pricing Works

- No vendor commissions. Our recommendations are based purely on merit.

- Destination vs city, destination weddings carry significant additional logistics costs
- Design depth, bespoke decor execution adds creative and production scope
- Tradition specificity, multi-tradition or interfaith weddings require additional cultural coordination
Frequently Asked Questions
How does Velvet Knot’s flat-fee pricing work?
Velvet Knot charges a single flat professional fee for planning, set by tier and engagement scope. Bespoke partial planning starts at ₹5 lakh, Signature full planning at ₹8 lakh, and Luxury and Destination from ₹25 lakh. The fee is agreed before work begins and does not change with your wedding budget, so the planning cost is fixed and known upfront.
Why does Velvet Knot not charge a percentage of the budget?
A percentage model means the planner earns more when you spend more, which creates a conflict of interest. Velvet Knot charges a flat fee so our advice stays independent. We recommend vendors and choices on merit and fit, with no incentive to inflate your budget. Your planning cost is the same whether the wedding budget rises or falls.
Does Velvet Knot take commissions from vendors?
No. Velvet Knot never takes commissions, kickbacks, or referral fees from vendors. We are paid only by our flat planning fee. This means every vendor recommendation is based on quality and fit for your wedding, not on what pays us, and the prices you are quoted are not padded to fund a hidden commission.
What does the planning fee include?
The flat fee covers Velvet Knot’s planning service for the agreed tier: in Signature, that means venue selection, vendor sourcing and management, budget planning, design, timeline production, guest logistics, and on-the-day coordination. Bespoke covers a defined subset. The fee does not include the venue, vendors, decor, or hospitality, which are your wedding budget.
What is not included in the planning fee?
The planning fee does not cover the wedding spend itself: venue rental, catering, decor, photography, attire, entertainment, hospitality, and guest travel are all part of your wedding budget and paid directly. The fee covers Velvet Knot’s expertise and coordination in delivering all of it. We give you clear visibility of both numbers so there is no confusion.
What can trigger an additional cost on top of the flat fee?
The flat fee is set against an agreed scope. Significant changes, such as adding events, expanding to a multi-day destination format, or a major increase in guest count or complexity, can move the engagement to a higher tier or warrant a scope revision. Velvet Knot discusses any such change with you before it affects the fee.
What total wedding budgets does Velvet Knot work with?
Velvet Knot specialises in luxury and destination weddings, typically working with total event budgets of ₹50 lakh and above. The flat planning fees start at ₹5 lakh and scale by tier and complexity. Couples below this range are usually better served by day-of coordination services, which we will say honestly.
How do Velvet Knot’s prices compare to the wider market?
Across India, wedding planning runs from around ₹2-3 lakh for basic day-of coordination up to ₹15-50 lakh-plus for luxury and destination weddings. Velvet Knot’s flat fees of ₹5 lakh, ₹8 lakh, and ₹25 lakh sit in the premium full-planning and luxury bands, with the difference that the fee is fixed, transparent, and commission-free.

What drives wedding planner costs in India
Three factors explain most of the variation in planner fees:
- Scope: full-service planning runs 2 to 8 lakhs depending on event count and complexity. Day-of coordination only is typically 75,000 to 2 lakhs.
- City: Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore planners typically cost 30 to 50 percent more than their tier-2 city counterparts, even for the same scope.
- Team size: agency planners with 5+ on-ground staff on the wedding day cost more than solo planners, but offer redundancy if something goes wrong.
How Velvet Knot prices wedding planning
We use a flat-fee model with the fee tied to scope rather than your total wedding spend. After a free consultation, we provide a written proposal showing exactly what’s in scope, what’s out, payment schedule, and refund policy.
We don’t accept undisclosed vendor commissions. Any vendor we recommend, we recommend based on fit for your event, not on margin to us. If a vendor offers us a referral fee, we pass it through to you as a discount on the vendor’s quote.
For destination weddings, expect a 20 to 40 percent premium over hometown fees to cover travel, on-ground time, and destination-specific logistics. For NRI clients planning remotely, expect a 10 to 20 percent uplift to cover time-zone-shifted communication and additional video review cycles.
