July 2027 has six auspicious Hindu marriage dates by the Drik Panchang calendar for New Delhi: 1, 7, 8, 9, 11 and 12 July. Devshayani Ekadashi on 14 July begins Chaturmas, the four-month pause in weddings, and the next date is 10 November 2027. These are the last dates for four months. The monsoon is fully active, which makes July a season of indoor weddings and off-season prices. Your family priest decides.

Chaturmas: the four-month pause
Devshayani Ekadashi, which falls on Wednesday 14 July 2027, marks the beginning of Chaturmas, the four months during which, in Hindu tradition, Vishnu is said to rest, and weddings are not held in most families. The pause ends at Prabodhini Ekadashi, which falls on 10 November 2027, and the season reopens with a date that very day. Between 12 July and 10 November 2027 there are no listed wedding dates at all. Our guide to the no-wedding periods explains Chaturmas, Kharmas and the other pauses.
That makes the first twelve days of July the last chance for a Hindu wedding for four months, and families who cannot wait until November will find these dates in demand.
Reading the July windows
- Thursday 1 July has a pre-dawn window from 2:50 am to 5:27 am on 2 July.
- Wednesday 7 to Friday 9 July run almost continuously from 6:43 pm on Wednesday to 6:16 pm on Friday, under Magha and Uttara Phalguni, giving the most flexible stretch of the month, including Friday 9 July.
- Sunday 11 and Monday 12 July run from 11:05 pm on Sunday to 11:56 pm on Monday under Swati, the last window before Chaturmas.
The monsoon in July
By July the monsoon normally covers the whole country, and July is one of the wettest months of the year in most regions. Mumbai, Goa, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and the Western Ghats receive very heavy rain; the north and east have frequent heavy showers; and the hills are at risk of landslides that close roads, especially in Himachal and Uttarakhand. A July wedding should be planned as an indoor wedding, with outdoor elements only where there is solid cover. Our monsoon wedding planning guide covers how to do that well.
Where to marry in July
City hotels and banquet halls with indoor ballrooms are the safest choice. Palace hotels in Rajasthan, which receive less rain than the coasts, can make beautiful monsoon settings, with lakes full and the hills green around Udaipur, at off-season rates. Ladakh is outside the monsoon’s reach and in its short summer season, which makes it a possibility for a small wedding, with the altitude caveats covered in our Ladakh guide. Beach and hill destinations are best avoided.
Demand and pricing
July is deep off-season for weddings and tourism. Venues and vendors who will have almost no weddings for four months after 12 July are often flexible on price for the July dates, and families can secure venues that are out of reach in winter. Demand for the dates themselves is moderate, but the last weekend before Chaturmas, 11 to 12 July, may draw families who want to marry before the pause.
A countdown for an early-July 2027 wedding
| When | What to lock in |
|---|---|
| By March 2027 | Pandit and muhurat; an indoor venue; caterer |
| April 2027 | Decor designed for an indoor, monsoon setting; photography; music |
| May 2027 | Invitations; outfits; guest travel with flexible bookings |
| June 2027 | Final guest count; covered transport and parking plan |
| Wedding week | Weather check, travel advisories, and the ceremony |
Night windows in July
Three of the six July dates are night or pre-dawn windows: 1 into 2 July, 7 into 9 July and 11 into 12 July. A night ceremony in the monsoon is cooler than a June night, but rain at night makes moving guests between buildings harder, so keep the ceremony, dining and rest areas under one roof if possible. Schedule the reception and dinner before the pheras, and arrange covered transport for guests who leave early.
Guests and travel in July
Monsoon rain disrupts flights in Mumbai and Goa, trains in the plains during floods, and roads in the hills. Guests coming from outside the city should travel a day early, carry flexible tickets, and stay close to the venue. Elderly guests are better hosted at the venue hotel itself, so that they do not travel through the rain on the wedding day. Our outstation guest planning guide covers room blocks and transport.
Smaller weddings before the pause
Many July weddings are smaller by choice: families who want to marry before Chaturmas, couples relocating for work or study abroad later in the year, and families who prefer a quiet ceremony followed by a larger reception in the winter season. A July ceremony with close family and a November or December reception for the wider circle is a common and sensible pattern. Our May 2027 and June 2027 marriage date pages list the earlier summer options for families who prefer to marry sooner.
Ashadha and regional calendars
In many Telugu and Kannada families, the month of Ashadha, which in 2027 falls around June and July, is traditionally avoided for weddings, and newly married couples in some families spend the month apart. Families from these regions should check whether the July dates fall in Ashadha by their own calendar before planning. Other South Indian and Bengali families follow their own panchangams. The family priest decides. Our muhurtham guide explains how southern calendars work.
Decor and food in a monsoon July
Monsoon July weddings look best when they lean into the season rather than fight it: deep greens, rain-washed whites, lanterns and candles indoors, and the sound of rain on a covered courtyard. Choose hardy flowers and foliage, keep fabric to a minimum, and make lighting carry the design. Menus suit the weather too: hot soups, chai counters, pakoras and fried snacks, and rich, warm main courses. Food safety matters in the humidity, so prefer freshly cooked live counters.
If you miss July
If the July dates do not work, the next Hindu wedding dates fall in November 2027, beginning on Prabodhini Ekadashi, 10 November, with eleven dates in November and seven in December before the winter Kharmas pause. Our wedding muhurat dates 2026 to 2027 guide lists them.
