• By air. Jaisalmer’s own airport carries limited and seasonal services,

  with a long road transfer on from there that has to be scheduled, staffed and supplied with
  water.
• By rail. Overnight trains from Delhi and Jodhpur are a genuinely good
  option here and a lot of guests prefer them to a late drive across the desert. Book the

  accommodation all sound straightforward and are not. Power, water, sand-proofing for

When to marry in Jaisalmer

The desert season is short and non-negotiable: roughly October to March. Outside it the
heat makes an outdoor ceremony, a camel procession and a tented camp genuinely unsafe rather
than merely uncomfortable, and the formats that justify coming to Jaisalmer are all
outdoor.

Within that window, two things compress the calendar further. The first is inventory:

The second is the Desert Festival, held at Jaisalmer and the Sam dunes in the winter

the ceremony sites are, and it takes accommodation, camel handlers and local crews with it. Confirm the year’s dates before contracting, and if your wedding falls close to them, expect
both pricing and availability to behave differently from the rest of the season.

One further note on nights. Desert temperatures drop sharply after dark in the winter
months, far more than guests flying in from a city expect. Warn them in the invitation, and
plan heating and shawls into the outdoor evening functions rather than discovering the
problem during the sundowner.
