A wedding at Tarangi Jim Corbett Resort and Spa runs roughly Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore depending on scale, with one published per-day package at Rs 32.5 lakh covering 48 rooms, all meals and venue. With around 100 rooms and a lawn seating 1,000, it is among the largest wedding properties in the Corbett belt, six hours from Delhi.

The short answer

Budget Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore for a wedding here, depending almost entirely on guest count and how many nights you take.

Tarangi publishes more usable pricing than most Indian resorts, which makes planning unusually straightforward. One quoted per-day package sits at around Rs 32.5 lakh and covers 48 rooms with all meals and the venue. Per-plate for a standard vegetarian menu starts at about Rs 1,700, varying with season and menu customisation. Cited overall wedding costs run from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore.

Those figures are consistent with each other, which is reassuring. A two-night wedding taking most of the property lands around Rs 65 lakh to Rs 1 crore before heavy production, and the Rs 1.5 crore end reflects a large guest list with a serious decor and entertainment budget.

Where the money goes

LineTypical rangeNotes
Rooms, 2 nightsRs 20 lakh to 45 lakhAround 100 rooms; a 48-room day package is quoted at Rs 32.5 lakh with meals and venue
Venue and lawn hireRs 4 lakh to 12 lakhOften bundled into the per-day package
Food and beverageRs 12 lakh to 40 lakhFrom about Rs 1,700 per plate vegetarian
Decor and productionRs 8 lakh to 35 lakhForest setting, but a modern resort build, so decor carries the look
EntertainmentRs 3 lakh to 18 lakhDelhi talent travels in
Photography and filmRs 5 lakh to 18 lakhDelhi crews, with travel and rooms from your block
Guest transfersRs 3 lakh to 8 lakhSix hours from Delhi by road, or rail to Ramnagar

Take the per-day package seriously as a planning tool. Bundled pricing at this level is genuinely easier to budget against than a venue that quotes rental, catering and rooms separately, and it makes comparison against other properties cleaner. Confirm what falls outside it, because decor, entertainment, photography and alcohol usually do. Our budget guide covers building the rest of the number.

Accommodation is listed at around 100 rooms by most sources and 105 by one, housing roughly 200 guests at double occupancy.

The gap between a 1,000-seat lawn and 200 beds is the thing to plan around. Tarangi can host a very large wedding, but only a fraction of those guests stay on the property. For a 600-guest wedding you are running a substantial off-site accommodation and shuttle operation across the Ramnagar area.

Note also how small the indoor banquet is at 100 seated. In a region with real weather, that matters: there is no indoor space that can take a large function. If rain arrives, a 500-guest lawn event has nowhere to go unless you have built a covered structure. Budget a proper marquee for any function outside the driest months rather than treating it as a contingency you probably will not need.

The Corbett setting

Jim Corbett has become one of North India’s busiest wedding destinations in recent years, and the appeal is straightforward: forest, river and hills, six hours from Delhi, with no flight involved. For a Delhi or western Uttar Pradesh family, it delivers a genuine destination-wedding feel without any of the travel friction of Rajasthan or Goa.

Tarangi sits in the Ramnagar area near the park. The surroundings are the product, and it is worth using them: morning safaris in the buffer zone, riverside settings for daytime functions, and a landscape that photographs very differently from a palace or a beach.

Be clear-eyed about one thing. The Corbett belt has grown fast and the properties are mostly modern resorts rather than heritage buildings. The forest is real; the architecture is not going to carry your photographs the way a Rajasthan palace would. Decor and location scouting do more work here, and should be budgeted accordingly.

Getting there

  • By road from Delhi, roughly five to six hours depending on traffic out of the city. This is how most guests arrive.
  • By train to Ramnagar, which has direct services from Delhi including overnight options, then a short drive.
  • By air, Pantnagar is the nearest airport with limited connectivity; most guests fly to Delhi and drive.

The six-hour drive is the main constraint on your guest list and it needs honest handling. It is comfortably done in a day but it is not a casual journey, and day guests who would attend a Delhi wedding will not make this one. Expect attendance in the region of 60 to 70 percent of your invite list, and contract your room block against that figure rather than the optimistic one.

Coaches are the sensible answer for large groups: a scheduled departure from a Delhi pick-up point beats sixty cars leaving independently, and it turns the journey into part of the event. Our Delhi wedding cost guide covers the alternative of simply staying in the city.

Season, and the part that catches people out

October to March is the wedding window. November to February is cold, clear and reliable, with genuinely cold nights that need heating for every outdoor evening function.

The monsoon, roughly July to September, is heavy in this belt and the core park zones close for part of it. This is not a season for a Corbett wedding.

April to June is hot but usable, and is when wildlife sightings are actually at their best because animals concentrate around water. If a safari is part of your plan, this is a real consideration.

Book eight to twelve months ahead for a peak-season weekend. The Corbett belt is popular and the large-capacity properties like this one are the first to go.

How it compares

  • Versus other Corbett properties: Tarangi is at the larger end of the belt on both rooms and lawn capacity, which is its main differentiator. Smaller Corbett resorts are more characterful and cannot take the numbers.
  • Versus Taj Rishikesh: Rishikesh gives you the Ganga and a stronger sense of place at a higher price point.
  • Versus JW Marriott Mussoorie: a hill-station option with mountain views, at similar or higher cost.
  • Versus Ananda in the Himalayas: a wellness destination for a much smaller and considerably more expensive wedding.
  • Versus a Delhi wedding: the city is easier for guests and gives you an evening rather than a weekend, at a comparable or higher cost per head.

What to settle before signing

Settle exactly what the per-day package includes, particularly which meals, how many rooms, and whether venue hire and taxes are inside the figure. Bundled pricing is only an advantage if the boundaries are written down.

Settle the wet-weather plan properly, because the indoor banquet takes only 100 seated. For any function above that number, you need a costed covered structure rather than an assurance.

Settle off-site accommodation early if your list exceeds 200. Ramnagar has a lot of resorts of very variable quality, and a block across three properties needs organising and inspecting months ahead.

Settle safari arrangements in advance if they are part of your plan. Park permits and zone allocations are regulated and limited, and a group booking cannot be arranged at short notice.

Settle heating for evening functions between November and February, and confirm generator capacity for the production load. To price this against your actual guest list and dates, send us the details.

Housing the guests the property cannot

With a lawn seating 1,000 and roughly 200 beds, off-site accommodation is not an edge case here, it is the normal condition of a large Corbett wedding, and it is the part families plan last and regret first.

The Ramnagar belt has a great many resorts and the quality range is very wide. Some are genuinely good, some are basic properties with a wedding-facing website, and the photographs do not reliably distinguish them. Either visit the shortlist yourself or send someone who will, because a guest who has driven six hours from Delhi and been put somewhere poor will remember that more clearly than your reception.

Block early, and block realistically. Peak-season weekends in the Corbett belt are contested by ordinary tourists as well as weddings, so six to nine months ahead is not excessive for a 200-room requirement across several properties.

Then cost the shuttle honestly. Guests spread across three or four resorts need moving to every function, and the roads are rural and slow. This is a two-day coach operation with a named coordinator, not a couple of cars.

Using the forest rather than ignoring it

The single biggest mistake at a Corbett wedding is treating the location as a backdrop and then programming a schedule that could have happened in a Delhi banquet hall.

Build a morning safari into the programme for guests who want it. Permits are limited and regulated, so this has to be arranged well in advance through the resort, but a jeep safari in the buffer zone is the thing guests will talk about afterwards, and it costs a fraction of an equivalent hour of entertainment.

Use the riverside and forest-edge settings for daytime functions rather than putting everything on the main lawn. A haldi by the water is a different photograph from a haldi on grass with a stage.

Leave one genuinely free half-day. Guests who have travelled six hours want to see the place, and a programme with no gaps produces the same complaint every time.

One caution worth building into the schedule: this is a working wildlife area, and both the park zones and the buffer have rules on timings, vehicle numbers and noise. Confirm what applies to your property and your dates rather than assuming a resort lawn is unrestricted.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a wedding at Tarangi Jim Corbett cost?

Roughly Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore depending on scale. One published per-day package sits at around Rs 32.5 lakh covering 48 rooms, all meals and venue, and per-plate rates start at about Rs 1,700 for a standard vegetarian menu.

How many rooms does Tarangi have?

Around 100 rooms, with one source citing 105. That houses roughly 200 guests at double occupancy, which is well below the 1,000 the lawn can seat, so larger weddings need off-site accommodation nearby.

How many guests can Tarangi hold?

The outdoor lawn seats 1,000 with a floating capacity of 1,500. The indoor banquet takes only 100 seated and 150 floating, which is the key limitation: there is no indoor fallback for a large function if the weather turns.

How far is Jim Corbett from Delhi?

Roughly five to six hours by road, or a direct train to Ramnagar including overnight services followed by a short drive. Pantnagar airport is nearest but has limited connectivity, so most guests fly to Delhi and drive.

What attendance should we expect?

Around 60 to 70 percent of your invite list. The six-hour drive rules out the day guests who would attend a Delhi wedding, so contract your room block against the realistic figure rather than the optimistic one.

When is the best time for a Corbett wedding?

October to March, with November to February the most reliable. Nights are genuinely cold and every outdoor evening function needs heating. The monsoon from July to September is heavy and parts of the park close, so it is not a viable window.

Can we include a safari in the wedding programme?

Yes, and it is one of the better ways to use a free morning. Park permits and zone allocations are regulated and limited, so arrange a group booking well in advance rather than on arrival. April to June actually offers the best sightings, though it is a hotter time to marry.
