A wedding at Samode Haveli, Jaipur typically runs Rs 45 lakh to Rs 1 crore for 150 to 300 guests over two days, with about 50 rooms on site. It is the rare heritage venue inside Jaipur’s walled city: a restored 19th-century haveli with courtyards, a pool and mirror-work suites, which makes it intimate and photogenic but tight for big guest lists.

The short answer
Budget Rs 45 lakh to Rs 1 crore for a two-day wedding at Samode Haveli with 150 to 300 guests. A smaller wedding of 80 to 120 guests that fills the haveli and keeps the functions inside it can come in nearer Rs 30 lakh to Rs 45 lakh.
Samode Haveli does not publish a wedding rate card, and no directory we checked lists a per-plate price for it. The closest published figure belongs to its sister property, Samode Bagh, outside the city, which lists Rs 2,300 a plate vegetarian and Rs 2,500 non-vegetarian. Expect the haveli to sit at or above that, because it is a smaller, city-centre heritage house. We plan with Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,000 a plate per function, which is the band most Jaipur heritage hotels quote once taxes are added.
What Samode Haveli actually is
Samode Haveli stands at Gangapole, inside the old walled city of Jaipur. It was built in the 19th century as the town house of the Rawals of Samode, the same family whose country palace, Samode Palace, sits about 40 km north of the city. The haveli has been restored as a heritage hotel, with rooms arranged around a series of courtyards, a garden lawn, a pool, a spa and suites decorated with original mirror work and frescoes.
That history is the reason couples book it. Most of Jaipur’s large wedding venues are palace hotels on the city’s edge or modern resorts on the Delhi highway. Samode Haveli is one of very few places where a wedding happens inside the walled city itself, with the old bazaars a short walk away and the feel of a family house rather than a hotel.
Where the money goes
| Line | Typical range for 200 guests, two days | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rooms, 2 nights | Rs 12 lakh to Rs 30 lakh | About 50 rooms; suites cost far more than courtyard rooms |
| Food and beverage | Rs 15 lakh to Rs 28 lakh | Three functions at Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,000 a plate, before bar |
| Decor and production | Rs 8 lakh to Rs 25 lakh | Courtyards need less build than an empty lawn |
| Overflow rooms | Rs 3 lakh to Rs 10 lakh | Nearby heritage hotels for guests beyond the haveli |
| Entertainment | Rs 3 lakh to Rs 10 lakh | Rajasthani folk acts are local and good value |
| Photography and film | Rs 4 lakh to Rs 12 lakh | The mirror-work suites and courtyards reward a good team |
The rooms line swings the most. Samode Haveli’s categories run from deluxe courtyard rooms to Haveli Suites with private terraces and the Sheesh Mahal suites, and the price gap between them is wide. Decide early who gets the suites, because that single decision can move the budget by several lakh.
50 rooms, or 39: the number that decides your guest list
Travel listings disagree on the room count. Scott Dunn and i-escape describe 50 rooms and suites; Great Small Hotels gives 39, which may be an older figure. Ask the hotel for the current inventory before you build a guest list around it.
At 50 rooms and double occupancy, the haveli sleeps roughly 90 to 100 guests. That is the natural size for a Samode Haveli wedding: the immediate families and closest friends inside the house, everyone else at nearby hotels. For 200 guests or more, plan a second hotel within a short drive and a shuttle that runs through the old city, where lanes are narrow and parking is limited.
The banquet side is more flexible than the rooms. WeddingWire lists the venue’s banquet capacity at 50 to 500 guests, so a large reception is possible even when most guests sleep elsewhere. For how room blocks usually work, our guide to wedding hotel room blocks explains release dates and attrition.
The courtyards and the lawn
Samode Haveli’s spaces suit a wedding broken into smaller, distinct moments rather than one huge night. The courtyards make natural settings for a mehndi or a haldi, with the architecture doing much of the decorator’s work. The garden lawn behind the main building takes the larger functions. The pool area works for a welcome evening or a cocktail hour.
A sensible two-day plan uses each space once, so the decor team is not rebuilding the same courtyard twice in 24 hours:
- Day one, afternoon: mehndi in a courtyard with floor seating and folk musicians.
- Day one, evening: sangeet on the lawn, the largest setup of the wedding.
- Day two, morning: haldi in a second courtyard.
- Day two, evening: pheras on the lawn or in the main courtyard, followed by dinner.
Three worked budgets
| Wedding | Guests | Format | Indicative total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Intimate haveli wedding | 80 to 120 | Everyone in the haveli, two days, three functions | Rs 30 lakh to Rs 45 lakh |
| Classic two-day wedding | 150 to 200 | Haveli plus one overflow hotel, four functions | Rs 45 lakh to Rs 75 lakh |
| Large wedding | 250 to 300 | Haveli for families, two overflow hotels, big sangeet and reception | Rs 70 lakh to Rs 1 crore |
The arithmetic behind the middle line: 200 guests at about Rs 3,200 a plate across three functions is roughly Rs 19 lakh in food before the bar. Fifty rooms for two nights at an average of Rs 20,000 is Rs 20 lakh. Decor for four functions at Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh each adds Rs 12 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. Photography, entertainment, overflow rooms and transport take the rest. These are our planning estimates for a heritage Jaipur wedding, not hotel quotes.
Samode Haveli against the rest of Jaipur
Jaipur has more wedding venues than any city in Rajasthan, and Samode Haveli fills a particular slot among them:
- Against Rambagh Palace: Rambagh is grander and far larger, with a price to match. Samode Haveli gives a similar heritage feeling at a fraction of the scale.
- Against Samode Palace: same family, very different wedding. The palace is a destination 40 km out with dramatic halls; the haveli keeps guests in the city.
- Against Jai Mahal Palace: Jai Mahal has bigger lawns for large guest lists. Samode Haveli wins on intimacy and old-city character.
Our Jaipur wedding cost guide compares the full venue ladder, from banquet halls to palace buyouts.
Season and timing
October to March is the Jaipur wedding season, with December and January the busiest and most expensive. Courtyard functions are pleasant through the winter, though evenings in late December and January can drop to single digits, so plan heaters and shawls for an outdoor pheras. April to June is hot enough that daytime outdoor functions become difficult, and the monsoon months bring the occasional downpour, which matters for a wedding built around open courtyards. Popular winter muhurat dates fill a year ahead; our muhurat calendar lists the auspicious dates.
Where the overflow guests stay
For any wedding above about 100 guests, the second hotel matters almost as much as the haveli itself, because it decides how long the shuttles take and how the families feel about where they were put. Three approaches work in Jaipur:
- Another heritage property in or near the old city. Guests stay in a similar atmosphere and the shuttle is short, but rooms are limited and prices are close to the haveli’s.
- A large modern hotel. Properties such as ITC Rajputana or Le Meridien Jaipur can absorb a big room block at one rate, which keeps the paperwork simple.
- Splitting by family side. Some families put the bride’s side in the haveli and the groom’s side in a nearby hotel, which also keeps the baraat route short and practical.
Whichever you choose, agree the shuttle timetable before the wedding week, with a vehicle on standby for elderly guests. In the old city, a late car can mean a missed muhurat.
Giving guests the old city
A Samode Haveli wedding has an advantage no highway resort can offer: Jaipur’s monuments and markets are on the doorstep. Families often build a free morning into the second day so guests can visit the City Palace, Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar, or shop for jewellery and textiles in Johari Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar. A short guided walk through the walled city, arranged for out-of-town guests, costs little and is often what they remember most. If you plan one, schedule it before the haldi rather than after, when the day gets busy.
Food at a haveli wedding
Rajasthani menus suit the setting: dal baati churma, gatte ki sabzi, ker sangri and laal maas for families who serve meat, with a live counter for kachoris at the mehndi. Most families also want a North Indian and a continental spread at the reception. Ask the hotel which counters its kitchen can run in the courtyards, which need a lawn, and whether a family recipe or a specialist cook can be brought in for one dish. Our guide to the per-plate cost of an Indian wedding explains how menus, counters and taxes add up.
The walled city, practically
A wedding inside the old city has advantages a highway resort cannot match: guests can walk to the bazaars, Hawa Mahal and the City Palace are close, and the setting feels unmistakably Jaipur. It also has three practical constraints worth planning for:
- Access. Old-city lanes are narrow, so large coaches may not reach the door. Use smaller vehicles for shuttles.
- The baraat. A procession through walled-city streets needs a route plan and traffic permissions; keep it short and close to the haveli.
- Sound. Late-night amplified music in a dense neighbourhood needs to stop at the time the hotel and local rules allow. Put the loudest function on the lawn and finish it on time.
What sits outside the quote
- GST and service charge on food, rooms and venue, if the quote is shown before them.
- Decor and any outside decorator’s access fee.
- Overflow hotel rooms and the shuttle between hotels.
- Permissions for the baraat route and any late music.
- Travel and stay for photographers, performers and the planning team.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a wedding at Samode Haveli cost?
Roughly Rs 45 lakh to Rs 1 crore for 150 to 300 guests over two days, and about Rs 30 lakh to Rs 45 lakh for an intimate wedding of 80 to 120 guests that stays within the haveli.
How many rooms does Samode Haveli have?
About 50 rooms and suites according to most travel listings, though one lists 39. At double occupancy that houses around 90 to 100 guests; larger weddings need an overflow hotel.
What is the per plate cost at Samode Haveli?
No per-plate rate is published. Its sister property Samode Bagh lists Rs 2,300 vegetarian and Rs 2,500 non-vegetarian, and we plan the haveli at Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,000 a plate including taxes.
How many guests can Samode Haveli host?
WeddingWire lists banquet capacity of 50 to 500 guests. The rooms are the tighter limit, not the event spaces.
Is Samode Haveli the same as Samode Palace?
No. They belong to the same family, but the haveli is a town house inside Jaipur’s walled city, while Samode Palace is a larger palace about 40 km outside Jaipur.
Can a baraat reach Samode Haveli?
Yes, but keep it short. The haveli sits in the narrow lanes of the walled city, so plan the route with the hotel, start close by and arrange traffic permissions in advance.
When is the best time for a wedding at Samode Haveli?
October to March, when courtyard and lawn functions are comfortable. December and January are the most popular and need early booking.
