A wedding at Taj Fort Aguada Resort and Spa, Goa typically runs Rs 70 lakh to Rs 1.8 crore for 200 to 350 guests over two or three days. The resort sits beside the 17th-century Portuguese fort at Candolim, with sea-view lawns listed for up to 800 guests and 131 to 143 rooms, and its sister resort Taj Holiday Village next door adds more lawns and rooms for bigger weddings.

The short answer
Budget Rs 70 lakh to Rs 1.8 crore for a two-to-three day wedding at Taj Fort Aguada with 200 to 350 guests. A two-night wedding of about 200 guests in the resort’s own rooms sits near the lower end; a three-night wedding of 350 that also uses Taj Holiday Village approaches the top.
The resort publishes no per-plate rate and asks couples to contact it for rates of the day. The only figure online is VenueLook’s Rs 4,400 to Rs 4,500 a plate for the Moon Deck at Taj Holiday Village, an aggregator listing rather than a Taj quote. We plan North Goa Taj weddings at Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000 a plate per function including taxes until the resort quotes.
What Taj Fort Aguada is
Taj Fort Aguada Resort and Spa sits on the headland at the southern end of Candolim beach in North Goa, beside Fort Aguada, the Portuguese fort and lighthouse built in the early 17th century to guard the mouth of the Mandovi. It is one of Goa’s oldest luxury resorts, built on terraces running down to the sea, with cottages, suites and hermitage villas spread across the hillside.
Next door, and part of the same Taj complex, is Taj Holiday Village Resort and Spa, a more relaxed resort of cottages set in gardens along Sinquerim beach. For a wedding, the two together give a rare combination: a heritage setting, sea views, large lawns and enough rooms for a big destination wedding.
Rooms
A Hotel Association of India document lists 131 rooms at Fort Aguada, including 38 cottages, 10 suites, 17 hermitage villas and a presidential villa; a wedding directory gives 143. At double occupancy, that houses about 250 to 280 guests. Holiday Village next door adds more rooms for a larger wedding, which keeps everyone within walking distance instead of spreading guests across North Goa. Our guide to wedding hotel room blocks explains how to negotiate across two sister properties.
The lawns
| Space | Capacity listed | Source |

Spalba gives the Fort Aguada lawns as up to 700. The Bay View Lawns, looking over the sea, are the reason most couples choose the resort: a sunset wedding with the water below is the classic Fort Aguada image. Ask for the seated dinner capacity of each lawn with a stage and buffets for your exact layout.

When to use Taj Holiday Village as well
For a wedding of up to about 250 guests, Fort Aguada alone usually works: its rooms house most guests and the Bay View Lawns take the main function. Above that, Holiday Village next door earns its place in three ways. Its rooms absorb the overflow without sending guests to another part of Goa, its larger lawn suits a big sangeet or a welcome party, and its relaxed, garden setting gives a different look for one of the functions. Book both through one contract if the resorts allow it, so rates, release dates and the bar are agreed once rather than twice.
Budget by guest count
| Guests | What usually changes | Indicative total |
|---|---|---|
| 150 | Fort Aguada only, two nights | Rs 60 lakh to Rs 85 lakh |
| 250 | Fort Aguada full, Bay View Lawns wedding | Rs 95 lakh to Rs 1.4 crore |
| 350 | Both resorts, three nights | Rs 1.3 crore to Rs 1.8 crore |
Goa’s rules that shape the wedding
- Outdoor music. Amplified music in the open generally has to stop by 10 pm under the noise rules unless specific permission applies, so plan the beach party early and move indoors for a late night.
- The fort. Fort Aguada itself is a protected monument. Photography outside it is easy; functions inside it are not part of a resort wedding.
- Fireworks. Check with the resort before planning any; they are restricted on much of the coast.
Getting there
North Goa now has two airports: the newer Manohar International Airport at Mopa in the north and Dabolim in the south. Candolim is roughly an hour from either, depending on traffic, so check which airport each guest is flying into before booking transfers. Arrange pickups timed to each flight and keep the first function for the evening of the arrival day.
Season
November to February is the Goa wedding season, with dry weather and calm seas. Late December, around Christmas and New Year, is the most expensive and crowded time, and many couples avoid it. The monsoon from June to September brings heavy rain and rough seas that rule out lawn and beach functions. October and March are shoulder months with warmer days and better rates. Our muhurat calendar lists the auspicious dates.
Food and drink
A Goa wedding is the place for coastal food: Goan fish curry, prawn balchao, chicken xacuti, sorpotel for families who eat pork, and bebinca for dessert, alongside the North Indian and continental spreads most families expect. Ask the resort how it runs live seafood counters outdoors, how food is kept hot on a sea-breeze evening, and whether vegetarian and Jain menus are prepared separately. Agree bar brands and hours in the contract. Our guide to the per-plate cost of an Indian wedding shows how menus and taxes add up.
Decor on a sea-view lawn
A lawn above the sea is beautiful and windy. Build low and anchored rather than tall, use fabric, flowers and lanterns that can take a breeze, and time the pheras for the hour before sunset, when the light is best. Warm lighting reflected in the water sets the mood after dark. Ask the decorator how each structure is secured, and plan a covered fallback for every outdoor function.
Photography
Few Goa venues give a photographer a 17th-century fort, a lighthouse and the sea in one place. Plan the couple’s portraits on the fort walls in the early morning, before visitors arrive, and keep the sunset for the ceremony. The beach below the resort gives a second backdrop for the welcome party and candid shots. Drones need permission and are restricted near the coast and airports.
Guests between functions
North Goa gives guests plenty to do: Candolim and Calangute beaches, the churches of Old Goa, the Latin quarter of Fontainhas in Panaji and the flea markets on the right days. Build one free afternoon into a three-day wedding, and arrange a couple of optional outings for guests who want them.
Taj Fort Aguada against other Goa venues
- Against Taj Exotica: Taj Exotica is a large South Goa beach resort with wide lawns and a more formal feel. Fort Aguada offers the heritage headland setting in North Goa.
- Against W Goa: a party-led North Goa resort at Vagator; Fort Aguada suits families who want a more classic wedding.
- Against Taj Cidade de Goa: a Taj resort near Panaji; compare lawns and room counts for your guest list.

A traditional wedding by the sea
A Goa setting does not mean giving up the rituals. The pheras can be held around a sacred fire on a raised platform on the Bay View Lawns, with the sea behind the couple, and a haldi in the shade of the Fishtail Lawn works well in the late morning before the heat builds. Confirm with the resort where a fire is permitted, and brief the priest on the outdoor timing so the muhurat and the sunset line up.
Who Taj Fort Aguada suits
It suits a Goa destination wedding of 200 to 350 guests who want a classic sunset wedding above the sea, a heritage setting and enough rooms across two sister resorts to keep everyone together. It is less suited to a small wedding of 50, which would rattle around in lawns this size, or to couples who want a South Goa beach that is quieter still.
Questions to ask the resort
- What are the per-plate rates for each function, including taxes?
- What is the seated dinner capacity of the Bay View Lawns with a stage?
- Can we book rooms and lawns across Fort Aguada and Holiday Village together?
- Until what time can music play outdoors, and what is the indoor fallback?
- Which decorators are allowed, and are there access or power charges?
