The short answer
Budget Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1.2 crore for a two-to-three day wedding at Planet Hollywood Goa with 150 to 250 guests. A compact wedding of about 150 guests that fills the resort over two nights sits near the lower end; a three-day wedding of 250 with a beach sangeet, premium decor and an overflow hotel approaches the top.
The resort does not publish a wedding rate card or per-plate price. Five-star resorts in South Goa list catering at about Rs 2,000 a plate vegetarian and Rs 2,500 non-vegetarian before taxes on WedMeGood. Once taxes, a full menu and live counters are added, we plan Goa beach weddings at Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,000 a plate per function until the resort quotes.
What Planet Hollywood Goa is
Planet Hollywood Beach Resort sits on Utorda beach in South Goa, one of the quieter stretches of sand between Majorda and Cansaulim. It was the first Planet Hollywood hotel in Asia, and the brand’s film theme runs through the design, with movie memorabilia and a playful, lively feel. Directory listings give about 115 rooms, and pre-opening reports described 15 luxury tents as well.
For a wedding, the attraction is a direct beachfront in South Goa, where the beaches are calmer and less crowded than the north, combined with a resort big enough to house most of a wedding’s guests. The theme suits couples who want their wedding to feel like a celebration rather than a formal event.
Rooms: who stays on site
At about 115 rooms, the resort houses roughly 210 to 230 guests at double occupancy, enough for most destination weddings of 150 to 200 guests to stay entirely on site. A wedding of 250 or more needs an overflow hotel nearby; South Goa has several large resorts along the same coast. Hold the block early for peak dates, and agree a release date for unused rooms. Our guide to wedding hotel room blocks covers the terms to negotiate.
Event spaces and capacity
Listings describe banquet, lawn and beach spaces. Capacity figures vary: WeddingWire gives the event space as 350 to 1,200 guests in one entry and 200 to 350 in another, and a meeting directory lists six rooms totalling 682 people. The difference is between a seated dinner and a standing beach party. For planning, assume a seated wedding dinner of 200 to 350 and ask the resort for the exact layout of each space for your format.
| Function | Typical space | Planning note |
|---|---|---|
| Welcome evening | Poolside or a lawn | Casual, sunset timing |
| Mehndi and haldi | Lawn or a covered area | Shade for daytime functions |
| Sangeet or beach party | The beach | Music must stop by the legal time outdoors |
| Pheras | Beach at sunset or a lawn | Wind and tide plan for a beach mandap |
| Reception | Banquet hall or lawn | Indoor fallback in case of rain |
Where the money goes
| Line | Typical range, 200 guests, two nights | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rooms, 2 nights | Rs 15 lakh to Rs 30 lakh | About 115 rooms; peak dates cost more |
| Food and beverage | Rs 15 lakh to Rs 28 lakh | Four functions at Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,000 a plate |
| Bar | Rs 5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh | Goa weddings tend to have generous bars |
| Decor and production | Rs 10 lakh to Rs 30 lakh | Beach setups need wind-proof structures and power |
| Entertainment | Rs 3 lakh to Rs 15 lakh | DJ, live band, a beach party act |
| Photography and film | Rs 4 lakh to Rs 12 lakh | Two to three days |
| Transfers | Rs 1 lakh to Rs 4 lakh | Airport pickups and drops |
These are our planning estimates for a South Goa five-star beach wedding, not the resort’s quotes.
Three worked budgets
| Wedding | Guests | Format | Indicative total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beach weekend | 120 to 150 | Two nights, everyone on site, three functions | Rs 45 lakh to Rs 65 lakh |
| Classic beach wedding | 200 | Two nights, beach sangeet, sunset pheras | Rs 60 lakh to Rs 90 lakh |
| Three-day wedding | 250 | Three nights, overflow hotel, premium decor | Rs 90 lakh to Rs 1.2 crore |
Goa’s rules that shape the wedding
- Music outdoors. Amplified music in open spaces must stop at the time set by the noise rules, generally 10 pm, unless a specific permission applies. Plan the beach party to start early and move indoors for a late night.
- The beach itself. Beaches are public. A beach ceremony uses the resort’s frontage, but it is wise to ask how the resort manages passers-by and what permissions it holds.
- Fireworks and sky lanterns. These are restricted in many places on the coast; confirm with the resort before you plan them.
Getting there
Utorda is in South Goa, about half an hour from Dabolim airport, which makes arrivals easy for guests flying in from Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and other cities. Goa’s newer airport at Mopa is in the north of the state and much further away, so check which airport each guest’s flight uses before booking transfers. Arrange pickups timed to each flight, and give guests a printed schedule on arrival.
Season
The Goa wedding season runs from November to February, when the weather is dry and the sea calm. Late December, around Christmas and New Year, is the most expensive and crowded time in Goa, so many couples avoid it. The monsoon from June to September brings heavy rain and rough seas that make beach functions impossible. October and March are shoulder months with warmer days and better rates. Our muhurat calendar lists the auspicious dates.
Food and drink
A Goa wedding is the place to lean into coastal food: Goan fish curry, prawn balchao, xacuti and bebinca alongside the North Indian and continental spreads most families expect. Ask the resort how it runs live seafood counters on the beach, how it keeps food hot outdoors, and whether vegetarian and Jain menus are prepared separately. For bar planning, agree the brands and hours in the contract, because Goa weddings tend to run long into the evening.
Decor on the beach
A beach mandap is beautiful and fragile. Sea breezes rise in the afternoon, sand gets everywhere and the tide moves the usable space. Three choices make it work: build low and anchored rather than tall, use fabric, flowers and lanterns that can take the wind, and lay a raised platform for the mandap and the front rows so older guests are not sitting in soft sand. Time the pheras for the hour before sunset, when the light is best and the heat has eased, and have an indoor or covered fallback ready with the decor planned to move. Our guide to reception decoration ideas has setups that suit beach and lawn receptions.
Keeping a beach wedding traditional
A Goa beach wedding can keep every ritual. The haldi and mehndi suit a shaded lawn in the late morning or afternoon, the sangeet suits the beach after sunset, and the pheras can be held around a sacred fire on a platform on the sand, with the sea behind the couple. Confirm with the resort that a fire is permitted on the beach and where, and brief the priest on the outdoor setting so the timing of the muhurat works with the light and the wind.
Budget by guest count
| Guests | What usually changes | Indicative total |
|---|---|---|
| 100 | Part of the resort, two nights | Rs 35 lakh to Rs 50 lakh |
| 200 | Most of the resort, beach sangeet, sunset pheras | Rs 60 lakh to Rs 90 lakh |
| 250 | Overflow hotel, three nights, premium decor | Rs 90 lakh to Rs 1.2 crore |
Photography at Utorda
Utorda’s wide, quiet beach is a gift for a photographer, especially at the two golden hours. Plan the couple’s portraits for early morning, when the beach is empty and the light soft, and keep the sunset for the ceremony. Drones need permission, and Goa’s coast near the airport has flying restrictions, so check before booking an operator.
Planet Hollywood against other Goa venues
- Against Taj Exotica or The Leela Goa: both are classic South Goa luxury resorts with larger estates and a more formal feel. Planet Hollywood offers a livelier theme at a more accessible level.
- Against The Zuri White Sands: another South Goa beach resort; compare room counts and beach spaces for your guest list.
- Against North Goa: the north has more nightlife and busier beaches; South Goa’s calmer sand suits a wedding better.

Guests between functions
A Goa wedding is also a holiday for most guests, so leave room for it. South Goa’s beaches, the old churches of Old Goa and the Portuguese quarter of Fontainhas in Panaji, and the spice plantations inland make easy half-day outings. Many families build one free afternoon into a three-day wedding and arrange a couple of group excursions for guests who want them. The resort’s pools and beach keep everyone else happy, and a relaxed guest arrives at the sangeet in a far better mood than one who has been shuttled between functions all day.
Who Planet Hollywood Goa suits
It suits couples planning a beach wedding of 150 to 220 guests who want a relaxed, party-friendly atmosphere, most guests staying on site and an easy airport transfer. It is less suited to families who want a quiet, formal or traditional setting, or to very large weddings that need several hotels.
Questions to ask the resort

- Until what time can music play on the beach, and what is the indoor fallback?
- Which decorators are allowed, and are there access or power charges?
- What group rate and release date apply to the room block?
