A wedding at The Westin Sohna Resort and Spa typically runs Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1.2 crore for 150 to 300 guests over two days. It is a 97-room resort in the Aravalli hills near Damdama Lake, south of Gurgaon, which makes it the closest true resort wedding to Delhi: lawns, villas and an amphitheatre for up to 500, with the room count as the main constraint.

The short answer

Budget Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1.2 crore for a two-day wedding at the Westin Sohna with 150 to 300 guests. A wedding of about 150 guests that fills the resort’s rooms and uses two lawns lands nearer Rs 50 lakh to Rs 75 lakh; a 300-guest wedding with a large sangeet, an overflow hotel and premium decor heads past Rs 1 crore.

The only published catering figure we found is about Rs 2,300 a plate for the Pavilion dining venue on VenueLook, and that listing does not say whether taxes are included or how recent it is. Five-star resort weddings in Delhi NCR usually price at Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,500 a plate per function once taxes and a full menu are included, which is the band we plan with until the resort quotes.

What the Westin Sohna is

The Westin Sohna Resort and Spa sits in the Aravalli hills near Damdama Lake, south of Gurgaon off the Sohna road. It is a low-rise resort spread over a large green estate; sources disagree on the size, with the Michelin Guide giving 35 acres, Oyster 37 and Marriott 52, but every account agrees the grounds are the point. Rooms, suites and villas, including villas with private plunge pools, are arranged around lawns and gardens rather than stacked in a tower.

For a Delhi family, that combination is rare. Most NCR weddings happen in city hotel ballrooms or in farmhouses that have to be built from scratch. The Westin Sohna offers a resort wedding with real outdoor spaces, villas for the families and a spa, close enough to the city that guests can drive in for a single evening.

97 rooms: who sleeps on site

The resort has 97 rooms, suites and villas in total. At double occupancy that houses about 180 to 190 guests, which sets the natural size of a Westin Sohna wedding: a guest list of 150 to 200 can stay entirely on site, and anything larger needs either an overflow hotel or a group of local guests who drive home each night.

The villas are the decision to make first. Premier Villas and the two-bedroom Royal Pool Villas, with private plunge pools, are the obvious choices for the couple and both sets of parents, and they cost far more than the standard rooms. How many villas you take moves the rooms line of the budget more than any other choice. Our guide to wedding hotel room blocks explains how to negotiate a block of this size.

The event spaces

SpaceCapacityBest for
AmphitheatreUp to 500 (Marriott)The sangeet, a performance-led evening
East LawnUp to 350 (Spalba)Pheras or the wedding dinner
Banquet Lawn150 seated, about 650 standing cocktail (Spalba)Cocktail evening or a large reception
Poolside and PavilionSmaller groupsMehndi, haldi or a welcome lunch

Marriott lists seven event spaces in all. The Amphitheatre is the feature most NCR venues cannot match: a tiered outdoor stage that turns a sangeet into a real performance. Capacities vary by layout and season, so confirm each one with the events team for your exact format.

Where the money goes

LineTypical range for 200 guests, two daysNotes
Rooms and villas, 2 nightsRs 15 lakh to Rs 35 lakh97 keys; villas drive the upper end
Food and beverageRs 18 lakh to Rs 30 lakhThree or four functions at Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,500 a plate, before bar
BarRs 4 lakh to Rs 12 lakhDepends on brands and hours
Decor and productionRs 10 lakh to Rs 30 lakhLawns need lighting, staging and weather cover
EntertainmentRs 3 lakh to Rs 15 lakhThe Amphitheatre invites a bigger sangeet act
Photography and filmRs 4 lakh to Rs 12 lakhTwo-day coverage
TransportRs 1 lakh to Rs 4 lakhAirport transfers and evening shuttles for city guests

These are our planning estimates for a five-star NCR resort wedding of this size, not the resort’s prices. The resort’s own quote replaces the first two lines once you have it.

Three worked budgets

WeddingGuestsFormatIndicative total
Resort weekend120 to 150Everyone on site, three functionsRs 45 lakh to Rs 65 lakh
Classic two-day wedding200Full resort, Amphitheatre sangeet, lawn weddingRs 60 lakh to Rs 90 lakh
Large wedding300Resort plus overflow, city guests by shuttle, premium decorRs 85 lakh to Rs 1.2 crore

The arithmetic behind the middle line: 200 guests across four functions at an average of Rs 3,500 a plate is Rs 28 lakh in food. Ninety-seven keys for two nights at an average of Rs 17,000 is about Rs 33 lakh before any negotiation on a full block. Decor for a sangeet, a wedding and two smaller functions adds Rs 12 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. A full-resort block usually earns a better room rate than this average, which is where the lower end of the range comes from.

Allocating the villas

Villas are where a Westin Sohna wedding feels different from a city hotel, and they are also where family politics can surface. A simple rule keeps everyone comfortable: the couple takes a Royal Pool Villa, each set of parents takes a villa, and the remaining villas go to grandparents and anyone with mobility needs, because villas are on the ground and close to the lawns. Siblings and cousins take suites and rooms in the main blocks. Put the allocation in writing early and share it with both families, so nobody discovers on arrival that a distant relative has a plunge pool while they do not.

Food at a resort wedding

With guests on site for two or three days, food becomes the backbone of the experience rather than a single dinner. Plan breakfast, lunch and evening meals for every resident guest, not just the main functions, and agree whether those are in the room rate or charged per head. For the functions themselves, NCR families usually want a North Indian spread with Punjabi and Mughlai counters, live chaat at the mehndi, a continental and Asian section for the cocktail evening and a dessert counter that rivals the main course. Ask the resort which counters can run outdoors on the lawns in the evening, how many chefs they assign to live stations, and whether a specialist caterer for one cuisine is allowed. Our guide to the per-plate cost of an Indian wedding shows how counters and taxes build the final figure.

The weather plan for the lawns

Lawn weddings near Delhi need two kinds of cover. In winter, cold evenings and dew make heaters, a raised and carpeted floor and shawls for older guests worth their cost, and fog can settle over the Aravallis after dark in late December. Outside winter, rain and heat are the risks. Agree with the resort which indoor or covered space holds each function if the weather turns, how much notice the switch needs, and whether the decor can move with it. A wedding with a covered fallback for every lawn function is far less stressful than one that relies on the forecast.

Getting there

The resort is south of Gurgaon in the Aravallis, so for most Delhi guests it is a drive of an hour or more depending on traffic, and longer from east Delhi and Noida. That distance shapes the guest plan. Out-of-town guests stay on site. Local guests usually drive in for the main evening, which means a shuttle from a central Gurgaon point, a clear finishing time and drivers for older relatives. Weekend evening traffic on the Sohna road can be heavy, so schedule the main function to start late enough for city guests to arrive.

Season

October to March is the wedding season. November, December and February are the most comfortable for lawn functions. Late December and January bring cold evenings and occasional fog, which affects both outdoor seating and the drive from Delhi; plan heaters and allow extra arrival time. From April, Delhi’s heat makes daytime lawn functions hard, and the monsoon months bring rain that the lawns cannot shelter. If you marry outside winter, keep the main function indoors or in a covered structure. Our muhurat calendar shows the peak dates that book first.

Westin Sohna against other NCR venues

  • Against ITC Grand Bharat: both are Aravalli resorts. ITC Grand Bharat is an all-suite palace-style property at a much higher price; the Westin Sohna offers a resort wedding at a more accessible level with more standard rooms.
  • Against The Oberoi Gurgaon: the Oberoi is a city hotel with ballroom weddings close to the business district. The Westin Sohna trades convenience for lawns and greenery.
  • Against a farmhouse: a farmhouse wedding means building power, toilets, tenting and catering from nothing. The Westin Sohna gives you the outdoor feel with a hotel’s infrastructure.

Our Gurgaon wedding cost guide covers the full NCR venue ladder.

A weekend at the Westin Sohna

Friday eveningMehndi and a relaxed dinnerBanquet Lawn
Saturday morningHaldiPoolside or a garden
Saturday eveningSangeetAmphitheatre
Sunday eveningPheras and wedding dinnerEast Lawn

Using each space once lets the decor team build for one night instead of turning a lawn around in a few hours, which saves money and keeps each function looking finished.

Who the Westin Sohna suits

The Westin Sohna is a strong choice for families who want a destination-style wedding without asking guests to fly: a resort weekend with villas, lawns and a spa, within driving distance of Delhi and Gurgaon. It suits guest lists of 150 to 250 best, when most guests can stay on site and the Amphitheatre and lawns are used to their full effect. It is a weaker choice for a 600-guest wedding where most guests come only for the evening, because the drive and the room count both work against you; a central city hotel or a large farmhouse handles that better.

What sits outside the quote

  • GST and service charge, if the quote is shown before them.
  • Outside decorator access fees and any power or generator charges for large lawn setups.
  • Bar licences and charges for extended hours.
  • Shuttles for guests coming from Delhi and Gurgaon each evening.
  • Overflow rooms beyond the resort’s 97 keys.
