A wedding at the Jaisalmer Marriott Resort and Spa typically runs Rs 70 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore for 150 to 250 guests over two or three days. Directories list catering at Rs 2,800 to Rs 3,000 a plate and a destination package of about Rs 35 lakh a day for 100 rooms with meals and venue, and the resort has 137 rooms, so most guest lists can stay on site.

The short answer
Budget Rs 70 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore for a two-to-three day wedding at the Jaisalmer Marriott with 150 to 250 guests. The cleanest way to price it is the destination package: WedMeGood lists about Rs 35 lakh a day for 100 rooms, including rooms, three meals and the venue. Two days on that basis is roughly Rs 70 lakh before decor, entertainment, photography and travel.
For weddings priced per function rather than as a package, WedMeGood lists catering at Rs 3,000 a plate, taxes extra, for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian menus, and Weddingz lists Rs 2,800. Treat these as starting points and expect the final figure to rise with menu upgrades and taxes.
What the Jaisalmer Marriott is
The Jaisalmer Marriott Resort and Spa is a large modern resort on the edge of Jaisalmer, built in golden sandstone to match the city’s fort and havelis. With 137 rooms, it is one of the biggest properties in a town where most heritage hotels have a few dozen rooms, which is exactly why wedding planners use it: it can hold most of a destination wedding’s guests in one place, with a spa, pools and open courtyards.
It is not a palace. Couples who want a centuries-old fort setting look at heritage properties around the city or at Suryagarh, a fort-style resort on the Sam road. What the Marriott offers instead is scale, international hotel standards and a price that, per room, sits well below the city’s flagship luxury venues.
137 rooms and what they mean
At double occupancy, 137 rooms house roughly 250 to 270 guests, enough for most destination weddings to stay entirely on site. That changes the whole plan: no shuttles between hotels, everyone at breakfast together, and functions that can start and end on time because nobody is travelling. The package figure of Rs 35 lakh a day covers 100 rooms, so a larger wedding takes extra rooms at an agreed rate on top.

The event spaces, and a capacity disagreement
| Space | Capacity listed | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Indoor banquet | 300 seated, 400 floating | WedMeGood |
| Poolside | 180 seated, 200 floating | WedMeGood |
| Ballroom with palm garden | 500 seated, 600 floating | WedMeGood |
| Central courtyard (the Oasis) | 300 seated, 2,000 floating on WedMeGood; 600 on the hotel’s own events page | WedMeGood and Marriott |
The courtyard figures do not agree. WedMeGood’s 2,000 floating is far above the 600 the hotel itself gives for the Oasis, its open central courtyard and largest space. Plan around the hotel’s figure, and ask for seated dinner capacity with a stage and dance floor, which will be lower still.
Where the money goes
| Line | Typical range, 200 guests, two days | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Package: rooms, meals, venue | Rs 65 lakh to Rs 80 lakh | About Rs 35 lakh a day for 100 rooms, plus extra rooms |
| Bar | Rs 5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh | Usually outside the package |
| Decor and production | Rs 12 lakh to Rs 35 lakh | Desert functions need lighting and staging |
| Dune evening | Rs 5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh | Camp setup, transport, folk performers |
| Entertainment | Rs 3 lakh to Rs 12 lakh | Manganiyar and Langa musicians are a highlight |
| Photography and film | Rs 5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh | Travel and stay for the team |
| Guest travel | Rs 3 lakh to Rs 15 lakh | Flights or road transfers from Jodhpur |
These ranges combine the published directory figures with our planning estimates for a desert destination wedding. They are not the hotel’s quotes.
Three worked budgets
| Wedding | Guests | Format | Indicative total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compact destination wedding | 120 to 150 | Two days, package basis, one dune evening | Rs 60 lakh to Rs 85 lakh |
| Classic desert wedding | 200 | Two days, full resort, dune sangeet | Rs 80 lakh to Rs 1.1 crore |
| Three-day wedding | 250 | Three days, extra rooms, premium decor | Rs 1.1 crore to Rs 1.5 crore |
The dunes: Jaisalmer’s reason to exist as a wedding destination
Almost every Jaisalmer wedding includes one evening in the desert, usually at the Sam sand dunes about 40 km west of the city or the quieter dunes beyond. A dune sangeet or a cocktail evening with folk musicians, a bonfire and the sunset is what guests remember. It is also a separate production: tents or a camp setup, seating, lighting, power, toilets, catering transport and buses for every guest, all an hour from the hotel. Price it as its own line, and book the camp operator early, because the best spots fill on peak winter dates.
The Jaisalmer Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and still a living fort with people inside its walls, gives a second backdrop for photographs and a morning outing for guests, but functions are not held inside it.
A three-day Jaisalmer wedding
| When | Function | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Day one, afternoon | Arrivals and welcome lunch | Poolside |
| Day one, evening | Mehndi with folk musicians | Central courtyard |
| Day two, morning | Free morning, Jaisalmer Fort and the havelis for guests | The old city |
| Day two, sunset | Sangeet on the dunes, bonfire and dinner | A desert camp beyond the city |
| Day three, morning | Haldi | Poolside or a lawn |
| Day three, evening | Pheras and wedding dinner | The Oasis courtyard or the ballroom |
| Day four, morning | Farewell breakfast and departures | Resort |
Putting the dunes in the middle gives guests a full day to recover from the journey first, and keeps the most weather-dependent function away from the arrival and departure days.
Food in the desert
Jaisalmer gives the menu a natural theme. Rajasthani dishes such as dal baati churma, ker sangri, gatte ki sabzi and laal maas suit the mehndi and the dune evening, while the wedding dinner usually adds North Indian, continental and a long dessert table. Ask the hotel which dishes it can cook at a desert camp, which have to travel from its kitchen, and how food is kept hot on a cold dune night. Jain and strictly vegetarian kitchens need agreeing early, because ingredients in Jaisalmer come from far away and substitutions are harder at short notice.
Decor that suits sandstone
The resort’s golden sandstone does much of the work. Warm lighting, brass lanterns, marigold and rose, and textiles in deep reds and ochres sit naturally against it, and they cost less than a heavy floral build that fights the setting. On the dunes, keep it simple and robust: low seating with cushions and rugs, a lit pathway, a stage for the musicians and enough heaters. Wind is the enemy of tall installations in the desert, so ask the decorator how each piece is anchored.
Getting guests to Jaisalmer
Travel is the biggest planning challenge. Jaisalmer’s airport has limited flights, which change by season, so many guests fly into Jodhpur and drive about five hours, or take a train. For a large wedding, plan for:
- A mix of routes. Book the flights that exist into Jaisalmer early for elderly guests, and arrange coaches from Jodhpur for the rest.
- An arrival day. Do not schedule a function on the day most guests arrive.
- Return logistics. Departures are as complicated as arrivals; plan them before the wedding, not after.
Season
October to March is the only realistic wedding season. Days are pleasant and nights cold, very cold on the dunes in December and January, so heaters, blankets and warm layers are part of the plan. From April the desert heat makes outdoor functions difficult, and summer temperatures are among the highest in India. February and March give the best balance of warm days and comfortable evenings. Our muhurat calendar lists the winter dates that book first.
Jaisalmer Marriott against the alternatives
- Against Suryagarh: Suryagarh is a fort-style luxury resort with a stronger sense of place and a higher price. The Marriott wins on room count and package value.
- Against Taj Gorbandh Palace: a sandstone palace-style hotel in the city. Compare room counts and function spaces for your guest list.
- Against Udaipur or Jodhpur: those cities are easier to reach and have more venues. Jaisalmer’s desert and dunes are its unique appeal.
Our Jaisalmer wedding cost guide compares the city’s venues and budgets.
Photography in the Golden City
Jaisalmer gives a photographer three very different settings within an hour of each other: the honey-coloured fort and its lanes, the carved facades of the old havelis such as Patwon ki Haveli, and the open dunes at sunset. Plan a couple’s portrait session for an early morning in the old city, when the streets are quiet and the light is soft, and leave the dune evening for candid photographs of guests rather than posed shots, because the light disappears fast once the sun sets. Drones need permission and are restricted in some areas near the border and air bases, so confirm before you book a drone operator.
Who the Jaisalmer Marriott suits
It suits a destination wedding of 150 to 250 guests who want the desert experience with the reliability of an international hotel: everyone under one roof, a package that keeps the budget predictable, and the dunes for one unforgettable evening. It is less suited to couples who want a historic fort or palace as the venue itself, or to families who need guests to travel easily for a single night.
